Hello, I'm Marie, and I'm delighted to share the story behind humblestuff handmade cleaning products.

Since leaving a job in Financial Services in 2005, I chose to become a domestic cleaner. During that time I've used a lot of different cleaning products, but when I decided to use products that didn't make me cough or harm the planet or animals, I couldn't find anything that actually worked

It was time for me to find out how people used to clean their homes before the widespread use of cheap petrochemicals to produce synthetic detergents and artificial fragrances in the 1950's. It didn't take long to realise that traditional ingredients like soap and bicarbonate of soda was all we really need.

Inspired, I continued my research, and after some trial, and a lot of error, finally settled on the recipes that worked best. I then introduced pure essential oils to the products, not only for the beautiful natural aroma, but also to enhance the cleaning power of the products with their beneficial properties such as being antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial. Ideal for cleaning!

I was so happy with the products, that I began to use them instead of 'conventional products' when cleaning for my clients. I was surprised when I was asked whether I would be selling my products, as it wasn't something I had even considered. I chatted with my husband Andrew, who thought it was a brilliant idea, and that's how humblestuff was born.

Since our launch in 2015, we've been selling our products at a variety of markets and events, as well as having our products in a variety of fantastic independent shops (see our stockist page for more details) . Our products have been awarded the title of 'Best Vegan Household Product 2018' and are really pleased to now have our humble products endorsed by Naturewatch Foundation as well as being certified 'Palm Oil Free' by the Orangutan Alliance.
